Getting started

What is playd.me?+
playd.me is a beat distribution tool for independent producers. Instead of sending a Google Drive folder, you send a private tracked link. You see who opened it, which beats they replayed, how many times they came back, and who to follow up with first.
Is it free?+
Yes — playd.me is in open beta and all features are currently free. The free plan supports up to 5 active send links. Pro (unlimited links and additional features) is coming soon. Everyone using playd.me during beta will be grandfathered on Pro pricing when it launches.
What audio formats can I upload?+
MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, and AAC are all supported. Maximum size is 50MB per file. You can upload up to 100 files at once — including whole folders — via drag and drop.
What does the recipient see?+
They land on a clean, private listening page with just your beats — no account or sign-in required on their end. It looks like a professional player, not a file-transfer link. They don't see any analytics or tracking UI.
Is the recipient aware their listening is tracked?+
We capture play events, session count, and device type — the same signals any streaming platform logs. No personal data is collected from recipients unless you add it yourself in Contacts (name, email, socials). Recipients do not see any analytics UI on the listening page.

Packs & sending

What is a pack?+
A pack is a curated selection of beats. You can build different packs for different audiences — a trap selection for one A&R, a drill pack for another — and every send from a pack is tracked independently.
How does a send link work?+
When you create a send, playd.me generates a unique private link for that recipient. They open it, listen, and every play, replay, and session appears on your dashboard in real time. There's no public index — the link is only meaningful to the person you sent it to.
Can I send to multiple people at once?+
Yes. From the Contacts page, select multiple contacts and hit "Send pack." playd.me creates individual tracked links for each person in one step — each recipient gets their own link and their own analytics.
Can recipients download my beats?+
Only if you allow it. The download toggle is off by default when creating a send. You can enable it per-send for recipients you trust.
Can I set an expiry date on a link?+
Yes. You can optionally set an expiry when creating a send — the link stops working automatically after that date. You can also deactivate any link manually at any time from the Sends page.
What happens when I hit the 5-link limit?+
You can still view all existing sends and their analytics, but won't be able to create new active links until you deactivate one or upgrade to Pro. Your beats, contacts, and historical data are never affected.

Analytics & engagement

How is the engagement score calculated?+
Each send is scored out of 100 across five signals: whether the link was opened (up to 20 points), play activity (up to 20), number of return sessions (up to 20), average listen completion (up to 20), and replays (up to 20). The score reflects genuine listening intent, not just a click.
What do "Hot lead" and "Warm lead" mean?+
"Opened" means the link was viewed but no beats were played. "Warm" (score 30+) means the person actually pressed play — meaningful engagement. "Hot" (score 70+) means multiple sessions, replays, or long listen times. The dashboard surfaces hot and warm leads at the top so you know exactly who to follow up with.
What counts as a session?+
A new session is recorded each time the send link is opened from a new browser or device, or after more than 30 minutes of inactivity. Multiple plays in one sitting count as a single session.
Does my own activity count toward the analytics?+
No. When you open your own send link as the producer who created it, your plays are automatically excluded. Only genuine recipient activity is recorded.

Contacts

Where do contacts come from?+
Contacts are created automatically when you send a pack to a named recipient. You can also add them manually from the Contacts page, or import a list via CSV.
What fields can I store for a contact?+
Name, email, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, SoundCloud, Spotify, phone, label or affiliation, genre, and notes. You can also track pipeline stage (Prospect → Sent → Engaged → In talks → Placed → Passed) and log deal notes when a placement moves forward.
How does CSV import work?+
Download the template from the Contacts page — it includes all supported columns. The importer accepts both full profile URLs and plain handles for social fields and normalises them automatically. Up to 500 contacts per import.

Account & billing

When does Pro launch?+
Pro is coming soon. Everyone using playd.me during beta will be grandfathered on Pro pricing — no action needed. We'll email you before anything changes.
How do I delete my account?+
Use the feedback button inside your dashboard and include 'delete my account' in the message. We'll permanently remove all your beats, contacts, sends, and analytics data within 48 hours.
